The Limits of Vision
When you close your eyes, what do you see? Now, now don't answer to quickly ... try it out and see. What is that ?
Is there movement of sorts?
Is there a color that you pick up on ?
Let me ask you this, if a person is in a car accident and for some or other reason loses his or her eye sight, that person is called disabled. Right ? But what happened when you closed your eyes? All of a sudden your other senses kicked into overdrive, the sounds was a slight bit more clearer, more crisp, the smell of the air around you, was far more "visible" to you, you sensed some action in your body, maybe hot, cold, tingling, You even tasted the aroma of the chemicals in your mouth. When something really tastes good for you, have you ever wondered why you tilt your head slightly up and close your eyes. When you smell that first morning air of the ocean, you do the same, slightly up and eyes closed. When some asks you " ... did you hear that ...?" and you strain to listen to hear if you hear the same sound, you close your eyes.
Now why do we emphasize sight so much when even the senses know the balance ? They know for one to rise "above" the rest, the others, just have to stand back a bit and allow for the experience of that sense to grow, engulf and to enrich. Why then do we marginalize the others and with our mind we have already given away the throne of the senses ?
Your body knows balance, it knows how to balance itself out.
And when that feeling, that gut intuition of yours speaks, not to walk down this road, do you listen? What is that? A sense? A sense of what ? Survival ? Enlightenment ? Or just something in between ?
Why do we so seldom include that in the balance we so desperately want to achieve, because if one is not present, the others have to work harder. And you have it, believe me you have it!
